Our company entered into this project at the stage when there was only one year left before the planned commissioning of the facility. Customers categorically did not fit the solutions offered by the previous team of designers. We were offered to quickly “sketch” our vision of the project.
Within 3 weeks we prepared a presentation of a new concept of the Gostiny Dvor interiors, which was received by customers “with a Bang”. A contract was signed for the development of full sketch and working stages of the project of renovation of the Gostiny Dvor interiors
According to the idea of the company, which planned to manage the renovated Seating area, its interior , especially the atrium, had to turn into a modern analogue of the traditional market square. It was necessary to come up with a modular, variable commercial equipment, which would occupy the main volume of the atrium.
Nontrivial was the task of decorating the two-storey block, located in the center of the atrium and occupying about half of its area. This volume appeared in the Ufa Gostiny Dvor as a result of “restoration”, which was made in the late 90-ies of the last century. The object had emphasized the “post-Soviet” form: parallelepiped with a pronounced risalite on the perimeter, covered with marble slabs of gray and “extremely cheap”quality.
We proposed to “cover” this volume with a lattice wooden shell of futuristic shape, which was to turn this building into an ultra-modern art object.
Unfortunately, for economic reasons, the customer decided to significantly sequest the costs of the implementation of the finished project, which is why our design decisions were not implemented in full.
